Teaching Alternative Energy and Green Power (US)
The Sustainable Energy Module from LJ Make ( LJCreate.com ) provides students with an exciting insight into new and future methods of energy production. ST100 Sustainable Energy is part of a range of interactive teaching resources for green technology, Demand for energy is rising all over the world, even as fossil fuel resources are dwindling and the climate is being adversely affected by their use. Science and technology can provide the resolution to tackle these issues. Today’s students will need a firm grounding in scientific and engineering principles that underpin these technologies, if they are to contribute to the future of sustainable energy. The Sustainable Energy Module is fully resourced with hardware for group demonstrations and party investigations. By using the on-screen Energy Simulator included with the module, each student is challenged with solving energy production issues. The interactive geophysical simulator contains a number of different ecological scenarios. Used throughout the module, this vastly motivational application gives students the opportunity to utilise the various power generation technologies that they investigate. Working individually at their computer, a student makes real-life decisions to meet energy needs, environmental targets and financial constraints. During group plotting, students are always keen to place forward their own solution to energy generation problems. Students learn for themselves the need for sustainable energy …

properties of gasoline in comparison with fuel ethanol?
Question by : properties of gasoline in comparison with fuel ethanol?
Best resolution:
Resolution by some-yank
Ethanol has about 60% of the energy density of gasoline, so you need much more to go the same distance. Ethanol is a renewable product, but takes a fantastic deal of energy to produce itself and takes away from arable land for food. Ethanol tends to burn cleaner. Gasoline is produced by harvesting crude oil, which by comparison takes small energy. Specific gravity, volatility, pH, and viscosity are similar for both fuels. Ethanol is more aggressive though on things like seals. Both fuels are miscible with each other, meaning they will disperse evenly at a molecular level. Ethanol does not become practical to produce at this time. Gasoline would have to sell for in surplus of $ 4 per gallon for that to happen.

My brother’s car runs on biodiesel. I must say, I was impressed. With spending a week driving all over hell and gone, he only filled the tank once.
