Personally,

Reduction of automobile usage is not going to reduce greenhouse gases to make a difference. Besides, having an automobile is a symbol of freedom, and living in America, just about everyone has one. You would never put a halt on that. you know how many car companies would want you no longer to cease. And even most liberals would look at you crazy for raising gases at the pumps, not too many people want to walk to work these days(trust me, I do from time to time and it is 4.5 miles). Stop fooling yourself. If you want to save the enviroment, fine, then you must use the Cris Carter method of detective work, follow the rich white man.

Behind every deal there is a rich white man waiting for his cut. So, you want your agendas to be passed, you have to follow the rule, by making the rich , white man more money. Here is an alternative to get your point across.

We could reduce smog pollution in the U.S. by allowing any city with at least 100,000 people to start a mass transit system. There will be no subsidies given but regulations will be reduced and no taxes would be charged for the first 5 years with the exchange of using at least 5 percent biofuel by 2010 and 15 percent by 2015. Fares would have to be competitive so that all working classes could afford to use the system and 1 charter bus must be offered to another city that also has a mass transit system.

Here we go:

If you have a cheap transit system that is privately run and bio efficient. You take a lot less cars off the road. Promote bio fuel. Then you also make money and jobs. Capitalism and Conservation side by side. Win frickin win!

People want to pay less for gas so they can go more miles for cheaper. Make it so that people will not need to buy gas as often.

If you really want to save the environment, stick to growing more trees, that something anyone can appreciate.

Not a dime. If the government was serious about reducing greenhouse gases, they would allow hemp to be grown in controlled conditions.

Henry Ford's 1st automobile ran on hemp oil, and it ran much better and cleaner.

The fuel companies including fossil, nuclear and solar. The Report of the FCDA Europe - endorsed by Judges, Doctors & academics - reveals for the first time, the CANNABIS BIOMASS ENERGY EQUATION, which shows beyond doubt that cannabis-derived fuel, capable of providing almost all of our domestic and industrial energy requirements as well as running all of our cars without pollution, is easily a CHEAPER and safer form of viable energy. It is the huge oil and nuclear industries which have the main profit motivations for continued prohibition at any cost. The FCDA Report reveals the true motives behind both past and present prohibition, and declares the law itself illegal!

This doesn't make any since. What does the price of gas have anything to do with reducing Greenhouse Gases? You mean if I pay more for a gallon of gas it will save the environment?

This is what I don't understand. Plants use photosynthesis to break down CO2 and use it for energy. In the Eu and Canada, CO2 is used as an organic fertilizer to increase plant growth. So if our global CO2 level is increasing, the plant life on earth would grow faster, thus using up more CO2. So how is CO2 a problem?

Not really,

Since 75% of all the oil refined into gasoline,

has to be bough from foreign countries.

And we cannot do anything at all, about the price those countries sell oil for.
