The Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF), a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit working to eliminate energy poverty through the use of solar power, today announced that its executive director, Robert Freling, has been invited to participate in the prestigious Second Symposium on Energy Poverty hosted by the International Energy Forum (IEF), in partnership with the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). The symposium, held November 15-16 in Vienna, Austria and limited to 120 attendees, will take up the multifaceted issue of energy poverty and identify the solutions needed to eradicate it. The consequences of this conference will help the IEF to prepare recommendations for the 13th IEF Ministerial in Kuwait in 2012.
At the symposium, Mr. Freling will moderate, “Session Three: Multifaceted cooperation to finance energy door for the poor; what are the most sustainable mechanisms?” The panel will focus on how to finance alternative energy development projects, shift from fuel to renewable energy solutions, facilitate public-private partnerships, and other finance and renewable energy related topics.
“It’s an honor to participate in this event and partner with an elite group of experienced global leaders to provide recommendations to the IEF for eliminating energy poverty,” states Freling. “I look forward to sharing my own experiences of how the application of solar technology has improved local economies in rural villages and empowered the people in these communities.”
The symposium will gather participants from developed and developing countries, representatives from governments and industry, multilateral and bilateral organizations, finance institutions, and international aid agencies.

Alternative fuel generator – Part Two
With building my alternative fuel generator and trying every experiment that I may possibly dream up, I have come to the following conclusions. My system is running on gasoline vapors. Although it will improve its performance by injecting water in the mix,it is still running on fuel vapors. I don’t believe anyone can take the gasoline out of the mix and make the engine run. The fantastic thing about this system is it can run on contaminated fuel.all day long, and burn half the normal amount of fuel. This is not a trick engine that bubbles a mixture of gas and water.,and needs to be adjusted every five minutes this engine can really do work for prolonged periods of time. If anyone can take the combustionable fuel out of the mixture I for one want to see it. Consequences are as follows. 1. No bubblers needed 2. No ultrasonics needed 3. No reactor rods needed 4. No fancy plumbing needed. Just plain clean fuel vapors are needed, along with a system to maintain right fuel mixtures. Water can be added using ultrasonics for a significant increase in power. I’m all for the alternative energy…
look at heliostats (Spain has 1)- we’d be able to erect thousands in the sahara desert,
Wind turbines are ingenious… some people dislike their appearance but I’d say they’re prettier than a gaping hole in the ozone layer,
Hybrid cars sound like a excellent thought, but does the maufacturing consume more energy? i don’t know.
Fossil fuels have to go… they’re eunning out anyway, so let’s make a change sooner so we’re prepared for when the are exhausted.
Biofuel? no- the pal grown in brazil produces a more eco forthcoming oil fuel, BUT!! the amount of carbon the deforestation of the jungle releases in the clearance administer to make space for these cane farms is much higher than the new fuel will ever save- it’s more eco forthcoming to keep the forest and ditch the palm oil

As fuel prices continue to rise, alternative fuel cars will continue to be a well loved topic of conversation. There are many alternative fuel cars available on the market today including ethanol based fuel produced from corn and bio-diesel vehicles that can run on the same oil used to make your French fries at McDonalds, but most of the alternative fuel cars on the market today are being marketed as hybrid cars.
Hybrid cars are alternative fuel cars, since they combine an electric power source with a fuel source to better a vehicles gas mileage. Alternative fuel cars have been around since about the same time as the invention of the car, but the market leaned heavily toward fuel only vehicles, since of the power and speed they were able produce. Previously the hybrid alternative fuel cars would only get up to speeds of around 25 miles per hour and the time it would take was around 10 minutes to get there.
The automotive industry is investing a lot of money into alternative fuel cars due to the rising costs in fuel and the increased pollution caused by common vehicles. The technology of hybrid alternative fuel cars has become very complex and each manufacturer uses the hybrid part a small another way on each car. Some hybrid alternative fuel cars use the electric part to provide an extra boost to the cars engine even as running or when starting the car. Other hybrid alternative fuel cars use the electric part to shut part of the gas motor down if it is not necessary to use it.
The more recent hybrid alternative fuel vehicles, such as the Honda Civic hybrid, still had drawbacks due to the minimal power they had available, but some of the newer hybrid vehicles on today’s market including the V6 Honda Accord place forward power and fuel saving with a higher mile per gallon ratio.
Being able to maintain power and increase gas mileage is a large focus of the automotive industry in being able to manufacture better hybrid alternative fuel cars. The hybrid line is also carrying over into trucks. Hybrid trucks place forward a slightly higher gas mileage without the loss of power and also place forward an electrical source for power tools aptly from the truck.
The future of hybrid alternative fuel cars is nameless, but there is a high potential that the fuel source most commonly used (gasoline) will be eliminated to make room for lower costing products and more readily available products. The future hybrid alternative fuel cars will potentially be able to get even better gas mileage and power and they will reduce the pollution produced.
The starting price for alternative fuel cars is around ,000. The demand for alternative fuel cars is high, but the production of them has not caught up with common vehicles, which has kept the price up. In the US, the government offers a tax incentive if an alternative fuel car is bought and is also investing money into alternative fuel cars. Alternative fuel cars will continue to be a well loved topic for anyone who commutes and they will continue to evolve for years to come.
